Event Details

Join us for our new Big Read Book Club! Each month, we'll read one of the 12 novels & memoirs the National Endowment for the Arts features as its annual "Big Read" selections. Patrons have the option of attending virtually or in person - coffee and refreshments will be served! For February, we will be reading the 2016 novel Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. This historical novel follows the parallel paths of two sisters and their descendants through eight generations: from the Gold Coast to the plantations of Mississippi, from the American Civil War to Jazz Age Harlem. Yaa Gyasi’s extraordinary novel illuminates slavery’s troubled legacy both for those who were taken and those who stayed—and shows how the memory of captivity has been inscribed on the soul of our nation. Copies will be available at the library's Circulation Desk. Please sign up below to participate in this month's discussion!
