Join us for our Saturday Breakfast Book Club! Each month, we'll read one of the novels & memoirs the New York Times designates as its "Most Notable Books" from the preceding year while enjoying coffee and refreshments. We will meet at 10 am every fourth Saturday to discuss the current selection.
Our selection for May 2023 is the acclaimed memoir Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner. In this touching bestseller, Zauner tells of growing up as one of the few Asian-American kids in school & of her mother's high expectations of her. As she reached adulthood, her Koreanness began to feel ever more distant, even as she found the life she wanted to live. It was her mother's diagnosis of cancer, when Michelle was twenty-five, that forced a reckoning with her identity and brought her to reclaim the gifts of taste, language, and history her mother had given her.
Copies of the book are available at the library's Circulation Desk. Please sign up below to participate in this month's discussion!
