Join us to discuss a great classic of world literature! Our January 2022 selection will be Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. A wonderfully entertaining coming-of-age story, this novel is often referred to as Austen's "Gothic parody." Decrepit castles, locked rooms, mysterious chests, cryptic notes, and tyrannical fathers give the story an uncanny air, but one with a decidedly satirical twist. And as with all Austen classics, it casts a penetrating eye on early 19th-century social mores and gender relations. Please call the library at (203) 245‑7365 if you wish to place a hold on a copy of the book. Sign up below to join in the conversation!
