Join us to discuss a great classic of world literature! For May, we will be reading Homer's Bronze-Age epic The Odyssey, as translated by classicist Emily Wilson. The first major English-language translation by a female scholar, it has already been ranked among the best interpretations of a tale told a thousand times. This fresh, authoritative work captures the beauty of the ancient poem as well as the drama of its narrative. Its characters are unforgettable, none more so than the “complicated” hero himself, a man of many disguises, many tricks, and many moods, who emerges in this version as a more fully rounded human being than ever before.
